Information You Submit
Names, phone numbers, and addresses entered into the search boxes are sent to the third-party provider that supplies the results. Santa Clara Residents Directory does not keep a copy of those searches on its own servers. If you contact the operators, the message contains whatever information you choose to include and is used to respond.
Ordinary Technical Logs
Hosting services may record an IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps. Those logs are reviewed in aggregate for uptime, security, and page improvement. Cookies or similar tools may support basic analytics and, where applicable, advertising measurement.
How Limited Data Is Used
The information described above is used to operate the pages, fix faults, understand general traffic, and answer messages. Visitor lists are not sold, and individual profiles are not built from ordinary reading activity.
Links to Record Portals
Pages link to Santa Clara County offices, California state portals, courts, libraries, archives, and third-party result tools. Each outside service has its own privacy notice and controls what happens when information is submitted there. Sponsored result boxes are supplied by a third party and are governed by that provider’s terms.
Requests sent through the City of Santa Clara public-records portal or County Clerk-Recorder are governed by that custodian’s policies and by the California Public Records Act, Government Code sections 7920.000 and following, where applicable.
Who Can Process It
Hosting and support providers may process server logs. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the automatic information described above. Information may be disclosed when a valid legal process requires it; otherwise it is not shared as a private visitor list.
Security and Retention
The pages use an encrypted connection, and logs are retained only for the operating, security, and measurement needs described here. There are no user accounts, passwords, or private profiles on Santa Clara Residents Directory to expose.
People Under 18
The reference is intended for adults and is not directed to children. Personal information is not knowingly collected from anyone under 18. If a minor has sent information, contact the operators so the message and related copy can be removed.
California Data Rights
California’s Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, can give eligible consumers rights to know, delete, correct, limit sensitive information, opt out of sale or sharing, and receive equal treatment. California also recognizes Global Privacy Control. Because this reference keeps very little, a request normally means checking the contact mailbox and relevant server logs, then removing what is found when the request applies.
Use the Contact page for a request. Public records held by California, Santa Clara County, or the City of Santa Clara are outside this reference’s control. A deletion or correction request for those records belongs with the custodian. The state’s California privacy guidance explains the statutory rights.
Policy Changes
Changes to this policy will be posted here with a new effective date when appropriate. Continued use after an update indicates acceptance of the revised policy.
